Whole Eye Stimulation (WES) for the Treatment of Retinal Diseases

WES

The main objectives of this project are to optimize stimulus parameters for the use of diffuse electrical currents as a therapy for retinal degenerative eye diseases and to investigate possible mechanisms of actions for the observed therapeutic effect.

This work is being carried out in rat models of retinal degenerative eye diseases. The primary tool employed here is finite-element modeling of exogenous electric currents within the eye.

This project is supported by close collaboration with the laboratory of Machell Pardue (Georgia Tech and thAtlanta VA).
